VALE Keith Turner
The Sandringham Football Club is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its most loyal and passionate supporters and player sponsors, Keith Turner. Keith, more affectionately known around the Club as Roly, rarely missed a Sandringham game, home or away. Roly has been a Sandringham member for more than 25 years and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Every Thursday night since 2001 Roly has attended Sandringham training and put on an after training spread for the boys that involved soup, sandwiches and at times even the odd cake or treat. Roly would often be found sneaking into the change rooms on a match day giving the boys a secret mars bar for after the game.
Roly had a boisterous and positive energy about him. He was a person who would light up a room with his smile and his humour when he walked in. On a match day if you couldn’t see Roly, you would definitely hear him, often passionately supporting his players or giving the umpire a quiet suggestion for the next contest.
Roly saw 4 premierships with the Zebras during his role as timekeeper. He loved knowing “I knew we’d won it before anyone else”. Roly has been a Sandringham supporter since he was a schoolboy and has been involved as a volunteer and sponsor since 1992. In his time as a volunteer he was awarded Sandringham’s Club Person of the Year in 2003. It’s people like Roly that make football clubs and he will be missed.
We love you mate.
We extend our deepest condolences to Roly's family and friends during this time.
