Vale Eric John Forsberg
05/08/2024
Our condolences and thoughts are with the family and friends of Eric John Forsberg, following his recent passing.
Eric is the son (one of six) of past Vice-President Eric Morton Forsberg. From 1952, he would turn up at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval with his brothers in rain, hail or shine, all wearing their Sandy jumpers.
Eric continued as a member and helped out where he could at the ground. He would bring his children to the matches in the 70's and 80's until they were teenagers.
Eric was also the first full time Marketing Officer at club level in the VFA, working for Sandringham in 1983/4. He worked on the Club Bingo sessions on Saturdays with David Burgin and was responsible for negotiating sponsorships on behalf of the Club.
Eric kept up to date with his favourite Zebras progress in the VFL every year until this year. They say his blood ran yellow, black and blue and all he talked about was Sandringham and the VFA/VFL, especially the Zebras finals when Trevor Barker was coach.
He was very creative and a much valued employee.
Rest in peace, Eric.
