The signings consolidate a promising, albeit shortened season from an up and coming Sandringham side, with all three players establishing themselves as regular members of the Zebras best 22 in 2021.
22-year-old utility Cody Henness moved from Richmond’s VFL program to the Zebras in 2021 and didn’t disappoint in his new colours, averaging 16 disposals in 7 games.
Henness transitioned into an unfamiliar midfield role mid-season after playing the opening rounds as a forward and was among the Zebras best on multiple occasions, gathering 20 possessions and 5 tackles in a thumping Round 13 victory against Essendon and 19 touches against Collingwood in Round 12.
He was recognised for his efforts with an equal tenth-place finish in the 2021 Neil Bencraft Best & Fairest award, finishing with 57 votes for the season.
Defender Anthony Seaton finished fourth in the Best & Fairest and was equally impressive, playing in 8 out of a possible 9 games and averaging 11 disposals for the year in a defensive role.
The 21-year-old was voted into the Zebras leadership group for the first time in 2021 and continues to impress with his off-field and on-field development.
Seaton also received the 2021 Zeal Player of the Year award, which is player-voted and recognises selflessness, consistent effort and great teamwork.
Another player who displayed consistent effort throughout the Zebras 2021 campaign was defender Tyson Milne, who showed some genuine dash off half-back and finished sixth in the Best & Fairest with 60 votes.
Milne recently turned 20 and is gearing towards a prosperous career in Zebras colours, averaging 17 disposals in 7 matches in what was a breakout season for the youngster.
Sandringham Football and Recruiting manager Josh Vella was pleased to announce the three signings.
"We are delighted to have re-signed Cody, Seato and Milney for 2022. All 3 of these boys are young players who had fantastic years with us in 2021. We are extremely excited to watch the continued development of each of them over the upcoming 10-12 months. They will definitely make us a better team and are all important to our culture,” he said.
