As we head towards the commencement of the Smithy's VFL 2023 season, we are pleased to announce three more players who have signed on with Sandringham Football Club for the year.
Vince Zagari
Vince Zagari returns in 2023 for his third year at Sandringham Football Club. The former Oakleigh Charger found his way to Collingwood’s VFL program in 2019, eventually becoming an integral player at Sandy when he initially signed in 2021.
Zagari is considered a well known "gut running wing who connects our back and front half well," says Head Coach, Jack Batchelor. "He is a strong leader for us and is well respected by his peers. We look forward to the extra growth from him in the 2023 season."
Phillip Moi Moi
Phillip Moi Moi currently holds a range of football experience in both the VFL and Country leagues. After impressing in recent years playing for Geelong West and Werribee, Moi Moi began training with Sandringham over the 2023 pre-season, where he was able to highlight his forward pressure and defensive skills.
“Phil has come to us from the Geelong region and has a huge desire to learn and improve. Powering through the front half is what we expect from Phil, and his aggression and tackling ability is something we hope will worry opposition," says Head Coach, Jake Batchelor.
Will Dunne
Will Dunne is another new face that has been training around Wilson Storage Trevor Baker Beach Oval this pre-season. Dunne hasn't played much footy in recent years, however has progressed well over the past couple of months and is expected to feature early on in 2023.
"Will is a very smart defender. His Kicking ability and decision making will make him quite worrisome for forwards in the league,” says Batchelor.
