Three More Re-Sign
05/03/2019
The Zebras are excited to have three players re-sign with the club for 2019. Nathan Smith, Tim Dundon and Kane Nissenbaum have all committed to stay on at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval for another year, all players who have shown promising signs and will hopefully bring big things to a strong 2019 Sandringham outfit.
Small forward Nathan Smith showed some great stuff last season, kicking 10 goals in eight games. He’s excited to continue playing in a team of likeminded players, wanting to make finals.
“It’s good to be back with a great bunch of guys. Personally, I’m just hoping to improve on the games I played last year, and that the Zebras can be much more competitive and push for finals,” he said.
After a disappointing 2018, not getting onto the park due to an ACL injury, Tim Dundon is keen to play some of his best footy in 2019. He is eager to prove his capabilities and be a part of a winning side this year with the Zebras.
“Extremely happy to be re-signed for a third year. Hopefully this year can be a break-out year for me, as I was unable to play last year due to an ACL injury”, he said.
“Expectations for me personally, are to get my first senior game at the club and learn a huge amount from the coaching staff. Team expectations are for us to play as “one” and for everyone to buy in to what we want to achieve which is finals footy.“
21-year-old small forward Kane Nissenbaum impressed coaches last season when he earned the opportunity to play with the Zebras, kicking four goals in just two games.
“I’m wrapped to re-sign at the club for another year, I really love the playing group, and have made some great mates. Personally, I’m really looking forward to building on my season from last year where I got my first taste of senior footy, I would like to push to play a few more games across the year”, he said.
“As a team, I think we are a lot stronger than last year, both as a VFL list and at St Kilda. I think this will lead to a strong season which will hopefully see us playing finals.”
“I’m really looking forward to the season under Sammy, I think he has a great relationship with the playing group, which enables us to be the best footballers we can be, whether that be at local level or VFL level.”
The Zebras played their first practice match for the year on Saturday afternoon at RSEA Park against North Melbourne, coming out on top and defeating the Kangaroos by 20 points.
