05/04/2018
The Sandringham Zebras are excited to announce that we have signed sixteen new players as part of our finalised list heading into the 2018 season.
Headlining the club’s new recruits are Brede Seccull, Tom Lamb and Sean Fisher who join the Zebras with previous experience at state league or AFL level clubs.
Seccull comes from SANFL club South Adelaide and is an exceptionally versatile player who can run the whole ground. He is fast, he’s fit and he can play anywhere on the field.
Lamb has been at West Coast for the past three years, however spent most of his time in the club’s WAFL affiliate East Perth and played just one game for the senior side.
Fisher was with Collingwood’s VFL side last season, and brings a really versatile skillset for a tall forward.
There will also be an injection of excitement going into the 2018 season this year.
Hayden Mclean was picked up from the Sandringham Dragons and holds an intimidating stature which serves him well on the field. He made a name for himself during his TAC Cup career, collecting plenty of contested marks.
Matthew Gundry joins the club from WAFL side South Fremantle. He is a disciplined defender who will bring a great left foot along with fantastic decision making to Sandringham’s backline.
Christian Carnovale comes from VAFA side, the Hampton Rovers having recently been named the club’s best and fairest player for the 2017 season. In 2017, he was named captain of his local side, and will continue to do so despite his VFL commitments.
Jackson Hille is another former Sandringham Dragon with a long kick and great versatility, making him an asset to our backline.
Cameron Lovig joins the side from Daylesford, where he played since juniors. The versatile midfielder played a huge role in helping his club make finals in recent years.
Josh Gorman played two years with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup. He is a small forward with plenty to offer the side.
Lachlan Cairns also joins the club from the Hampton Rovers VAFA side, where he has spent the last 5 seasons. He is a classy midfielder and boasts versatility, with an ability to play all over the ground.
Brayden O’Toole is a ruckman with a proven ability to score goals. During his career with St Bedes Mentone, he has kicked a number of crucial goals.
Will Clark is a strong ruckman and he also has the potential ability to be a key position player when he’s needed.
Sam Jackson is a small forward who uses his pace and agility to win the footy. He has a good footy brain and knows what to do when he gets it.
Bryce Dinger is versatile and can play all over the ground as a midfielder, or small forward and defender.
Alex Urban has been with Port Melbourne since 2015, spending the majority of his time in the VFL development league. He is a small forward and can play on the wing, providing a good run down the ground.
Anthony Folino is another recruit who joins the club from the Hampton Rovers. He is a small forward who has proven to be a valuable player since his junior days.
We are very excited to welcome these new additions to the Sandringham Zebras and we are pleased that we have kept many of our key pillars from 2017. Returning to the Zebra’s this year are Dylan Weickhardt, Kade Answerth (2017 B&F winner & co-captain), Luke Verma, Tom Laumets, Theo Thompson, Myke Cook, Oli Jones, Jordan Matera, Beau Bailey, Jack Noone, Kane Nissenbaum, Jimmy Sziller, Lachy Butler, Jono Haidon, Kyle Parsons, Lachie Batten, Tim Dundon, Nathan Smith & Chris Colombo.
