SMJFL and Sandringham team up for Community Partnership

The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) and Sandringham Football Club are pleased to announce a community partnership for the 2019 season.

Sandringham will be the SMJFL’s Official VFL Community Partner, while the SMJFL will be Sandringham’s Official Community Partner.

The partnership will enable collaboration and activations at SMJFL and Sandringham events, as well as the opportunity for the SMJFL to have access to Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval for selected matches.

SMJFL CEO Sarah Loh said the league was delighted to announce the Zebras as a league VFL Community Partner.

“We’ve developed a really strong relationship with Sandringham and it’s terrific that we’re now able to make it official,” she said.

“Having a link to the VFL team in the Bayside area reaffirms the pathway we hope our players can follow beyond their junior football careers.”

Junior players will have the chance to see Sandringham in action at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval across the season, with the SMJFL giving away tickets for each Zebras home game in 2019.

Sandringham CEO David Cannizzo said the partnership, one of the first of its kind among VFL clubs, was a great result for the Zebras.

“It’s great that we can have such a strong connection to grassroots football,” he said.

“We are really keen to make sure that we’re giving back to the community and furthering the football development of SMJFL players. This partnership is an excellent way of doing both.”
