Signed, sealed, delivered - the last of the Saints confirmed for 2023.
22/03/2023
Charlotte Ryan, Emma Stuber, Bella Enno, Sophie Phillips, Katie Prendergast, Charli Murphy and Grace Hodder sign on for the 2023 season.
Ryan, Stuber and Enno all step up from the NAB program and are ready to take it to the next level on-field.
Charlotte Ryan
After bringing home the Best Emerging Player Award in 2022, Charlotte Ryan has continued to develop over the pre-season, with Head Coach, Michelle Densley describing her growth as ‘unmatched’.
A handy winger, Densley is excited to see where Ryan’s football will go this year. Her Dad is also a past player for the Sandringham Football Club, with Ryan hoping to emulate his success.
Emma Stuber
Fellow NAB-graduate Emma Stuber has ‘improved in leaps and bounds’ according to Densley, compounding her existing talent through her new found confidence and love for the game.
Stuber’s technicality and physicality will be a great asset this year.
Bella Enno
Enno too comes into the season with conviction, putting in a huge offseason to become, in Densley’s words, ‘one of [the] fittest on the team’.
Densley is excited by the prospect of Enno’s run off the backline - an element of her game that will be impactful for the Saints this season.
Katie Prendergast
Katie Prendergast, described by Densley as the perfect ‘utility’ player, is an integral re-signing ahead of the 2023 season.
Prendergast’s impact across all three lines has been such an asset this pre-season - so much so that Densley notes that she has ‘[struggled] to find a home’ in one particular line. ‘KP is that player that every team is better off by having her’, Densely remarks, ‘[she is] a beautiful human’.
Expect to see Prendergast influencing the game from everywhere across the ground this year.
Sophie Phillips
Phillips is another re-signing that brings great excitement. This season, Phillips will spend less time in the midfield rotation and more time up forward.
Densley emphasises the importance of her ‘handy left foot’ and ‘head over the ball in attack’; such elements will see her impacting at ground level and influencing the scoreboard this year.
Charli Murphy
Coming back from injury to start the 2023 season is Charli Murphy. Densley describes her as a ‘beautiful read of the ball’ with ‘elite football’ skills and is excited by the clean football she brings to the table.
Murphy has worked hard with her conditioning to be ready for season 2023 and her return is well-awaited.
Grace Hodder
Hodder is another exciting prospect, with the cheerleader-turned-footballer showing great intent at the ball. Densley described Hodder to be very ‘coachable’ in her willingness to learn.
‘I’m excited to see Grace play this year’, she confessed - an excitement that is shared by the Saints community.
With the season drawing closer each day, the excitement is building within our four walls and having these girls sign-on adds an even greater level of anticipation for 2023.
Go Saints!
