Sandringham announces real Zebra for half time entertainment.
The Sandringham Football Club has announced their newest signing for the 2019 season, Sam the Zebra.
Sam joins the squad from a Victorian wildlife park, and will be attending all home games and performing as the half time entertainment.
Sam will walk laps around the ground and has been trained to run on command, jump obstacles and even catch a frisbee.
‘It’s a thrill to have a real zebra at our games,’ said CEO David Cannizzo, ‘just something else that sets us apart from the other clubs.’
‘Football and entertainment go hand in hand and so its very exciting to have such a great half time spectacle.’
Zebras, much like polar bears, can live happily in a range of weather environments, and contrary to several films zebras cannot be ridden, as their instinct is to thrown saddles or riders off of their backs.
The Sandringham Zebras Football Club are excited to include Sam in the club, and will kick off their season this Friday night against Footscray.
