Last time the two teams met, we got some form of revenge for the Round 1 defeat, comfortably defeating the Tigers down at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Oval.
With both sides coming into this game in decent touch, Richmond got off to a quick start in the first before we fought back and dominated the rest of the contest, winning the contest by five straight kicks.
Assistant Coach, Sam Dunell, was unstoppable up forward, finishing with 17 disposals, 11 marks and four goals. AFL-listed ruckman, Paul Hunter, dominated in the middle, acquiring 40 hitouts, 19 disposals, seven clearances plus an early goal in the fourth.
Key Factors:
One of the key factors in defeating the Tigers this Sunday is converting our chances.
Last weekend when they defeated the highly-fancied Southport Sharks at home, Richmond’s opponents dominated possession (415-289), clearances (43-31).
Despite this, Southport kicked 10 goals plus nine behinds from their 46 inside 50’s whilst Richmond kicked 16 goals and only had four behinds from their 53 inside 50’s.
The last time we played Richmond it was our efficiency inside 50 that got us the win. Whilst the Tigers had more disposals (357-295) we had more inside 50’s (56-47) and had 26 shots (46.4% I50 efficiency rate) compared to Richmond’s 16 (34% I50 efficiency rate).
