Last Time They Met: Round 13, 2017 – Port Melbourne 9.13 (67) DEF BY Sandringham 11.9 (75)
After a hard-fought win in Geelong last weekend, Sandringham will be returning home and hoping to go three from three before the bye round next weekend. The Zebras will be facing Port Melbourne for the Tony Scully Cup at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, on Sunday at 2pm.
Both sides tasted victory last week, with Port Melbourne defeating Collingwood by 16 points to celebrate Gary Ayres’ 700th game as a player and coach in the AFL/VFL. They played with something to prove in the wet following a round one loss to Richmond.
Sandringham will be wanting to keep the momentum going into this week, after another slow starting but hard-fought and intense match.
Against Geelong, Sandringham’s midfield worked really well to keep the ball moving the right way. But Port Melbourne also boasted a strong midfield last week against Collingwood. They had really good delivery through their midfield, which was headlined by Isaac Conway who featured with 17 tackles.
Both these sides have made a name for themselves as incredibly fierce tacklers. As they look to come up against each other, fans can expect a fiery and intense competition, regardless of the outcome the winner will have earned it.
If you can’t get to the game on Sunday, make sure to follow the club’s social pages to stay updated with stats and scores throughout the match.
