Last 5 – Sandringham: 0, Box Hill: 5
Last Time They Met: Round 5, 2018 – Box Hill 18.11 (119) DEF Sandringham 8.7 (55)
The Zebras host the Hawks on Saturday afternoon, in their final home game of the season. There will be lots going on at Trevor Barker Beach Oval as Sandringham is holding the VFL’s first ever ‘Doggie Day’, as fans are encouraged to bring their furry friends to the ground.
Box Hill are coming off the bye, having defeated Port Melbourne the week prior, by 43 points. The Hawks are sitting just outside of the top four, and need a win here to overtake Williamstown and get themselves a second chance come finals, so have plenty to play for.
But the Zebras will not go into this match waving a white flag, after last week proving they still have their pride to play for despite a lack of finals hope. Last week against Richmond, despite being 91 points down at the final break, the boys came out and won the last quarter with a lot of heart.
Kai Owens has earned himself a spot in the line-up this week, having made his debut a couple of weeks ago as the 23rd player, and cementing his place in the team. Kane Nissenbaum comes back this week to take on that 23rd player role.
Christian Carnovale comes in for Sandringham after a long wait, and will be eager to showcase his run off the half-back and down the wings.
David Armitage, Bailey Rice and Ed Phillips were omitted from the St Kilda side this week and will provide the Zebras with some much-needed experience and pressure all over the ground.
After stellar performances last week, Blake Acres and Nick Coffield have earned themselves a senior call up for St Kilda this week as they face the Giants on Saturday afternoon.
