Sandringham Football Club Opens Its Doors for Family Day
15/02/2019
On Sunday 10th February 2019, Sandringham Football Club held its inaugural Family Day at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
Blue skies and a great turn out, meant the day was a fantastic success. With lots of fun activities including jumping castle and face painting for the kids as well as footy clinics run by our VFL and VFLW players, there was nothing but positive feedback from the crowd.
“It was great that all the players got involved with the activities, my kids had a ball” said Sarah, mum and local resident.
CEO of Sandringham Football Club, David Cannizzo was thrilled with the day. “The aim of Family Day was to really open our club up to the local community. Sandringham Football Club has a long and proud history in Bayside and that community connection is a really important part of what we do” Cannizzo said.
“To have this kind of free event right on our doorstep is fantastic, we’ll be back next year” Petera, mum and local resident.
Sandringham Football Club Principal Partner, Wilson Storage generously donated 200 full scale V8 Supercar Model cars for our junior fans to test their kicking skills by trying to land a kick into a Wilson Storage packing box. There were lots of laughs and, with little help from our Southern Saints, there were grins from ear to ear with everyone walking away with a prize.
“The free stuff was awesome! And I won a really cool car” Lewis, age 7
Channel NINE Newsreader, Peter Hitchener delivered a special report of the 2019 season ahead. Peter said how delighted he was to be part of the Sandringham Football Club and wished all VFL and VFLW players the best of luck for the year.
As the players were introduced on stage VFLW coach, Peta Searle, congratulated the Southern Saints on their hard work so far and was positive about the upcoming season. After introducing his team, Aaron Hamill VFL coach, said his team’s preparations were going well and he they had a lot to look forward to in 2019.
Sandringham Football Club would like to thank Wilson Storage, Leader Newspapers, Linen House and Hamish Everard Natural Therapies for their contributions on the day.
Don’t forget there’s still time to sign up to become a Sandringham Zebra’s member in 2019. Click here for more information.
