Sandringham Football Club CEO Update
The Sandringham Football Club Board advises that David Cannizzo has tendered his resignation as Chief Executive Officer of the Club.
After nearly three years in the Club’s top job, David has accepted a new position as an executive of another organisation.
Sandringham Football Club President Nick Johnstone speaks about David’s contribution to the Club.
“Whilst it is disappointing to be losing David, we understand and respect his decision to transition to another executive role,” Johnstone said.
“David has been a tireless leader, leading the club through a period of significant cultural and behavioural change. In his time as CEO, he has reinforced the Club as a vibrant and forward-looking football organisation.
David has created a great match day experience with our community and local junior football clubs and introduced some great initiatives such as the first ever VFL Pride round and 'Doggie Day'. David also was instrumental along with committee member John Fowler on introducing our new in-house caterers as well as the installation of an electronic scoreboard with the support of the board.
“On behalf of the Club Board, the Administration and all Members, we would like to thank to David for valuable contribution and we wish him every success in his future endeavours.”
Ahead of embarking on his new challenge, David reflected on some of the highlights over his Club tenure.
“There are so many recent developments and initiatives about which the Club can be proud. Full credit goes to the Club administration team, supported by outstanding volunteer contributions across the Club,” Cannizzo explained.
“From the launch of the women’s football team – Southern Saints, the significant rebranding of the Club, to growing commerciality resulting in securing a principal partner in Wilson Storage until 2022, I’ve had enormous satisfaction in seeing this Club become more inclusive and seen as a real community asset.
“It is extremely satisfying to finish my tenure knowing that the Club is in a stronger financial position, with increased sponsorship, which is the culmination of a lot of people’s hard work and connections in the Bayside community.
“Finally, thank you to all Club stakeholders that I have worked with, it has been an absolute pleasure and I will be forever grateful for the wonderful relationships that have been formed.”
David will finish at the Club on Friday 27 November.
