Sandringham FC Female Football Forum - July 25th, 2018
06/07/2018
In May, Sandringham Football Club announced its intentions for a VFLW side in 2019. A women’s football working party was established and following discussions at their recent meeting, a Sandringham FC Female Football Forum will be held on Wednesday 25th July.
The purpose of the forum is to communicate SFC’s strategic plan, which will form the foundations of the development of a VFLW team. The forum will focus on Sandringham’s endeavour to create an equal, diverse and welcoming environment for female footballers, as well sharing how the female football pathway works in the Southern Region.
Guest speakers on the night include former St. Kilda champion Nathan Burke and AFL Victoria’s female football manager, Darren Flanigan.
With female football participations levels in the Southern Bayside area growing at a rapid rate, Sandringham CEO David Cannizzo wants Sandringham FC to play an integral role in the Bayside female football pathway.
“We will establish and maintain a quality talent pathway to identify, attract and develop footballers, while working with key government agencies and other stakeholders to secure the best inclusive facilities available”, he said.
This forum is a very exciting step towards Sandringham’s desire to provide females with the opportunity to play football at the highest state league level.
The forum will commence at 7pm, with those attending asked to arrive for a 6:30pm supper.
