Sam Gilbert to call Trevor Barker Beach Oval home in 2019
Sandringham has locked in former St Kilda defender Sam Gilbert, following his retirement from AFL football. As well as joining our playing list, he will also be taking on the role as the club’s Senior Assistant Coach looking after the backline.
Sam Gilbert was introduced to the preseason group on Monday and spoke of his expectations.
“I have been in some quality football programs over my AFL career and look forward to sharing that knowledge with you all to improve us as a team.”
“I want to focus on Sandringham being not only a really professional environment but a place that is socially really enjoyable. I can’t wait to work hard with you all and equally enjoy our time together socially.”
Sandringham Football Club’s CEO David Cannizzo spoke highly of the club’s newest recruit.
“We couldn’t be happier to have Sam with our club. From the moment we commenced discussions, to him signing on the dotted line, he has been focused on strengthening our football culture and making it the best it can be for everyone involved. He is a quality person that will provide so much value to the club” he said.
The club welcomes Sam to our list, and looks forward to getting him on the field for the upcoming 2019 season.
