Sandringham has named a strong team for it’s Round 2 clash with reigning premiers Box Hill Hawks at Marvel Stadium on Sunday as the Zebras search for their first win of the season.
For the first VFL/AFL curtain raiser of the 2019 season, Sandringham has made a few changes to its lineup that lost to Footscray last Friday.
Among the outs are Logan Austin, Nathan Wright and Ben Long while notable additions include seasoned Saints Luke Dunstan and Jack Steven.
Captain Brede Seccull will lead the Zebras once more as his brother Durras is in the mix for his first taste of VFL football.
Seccull was named ‘KFC Player of the Game’ by Sandringham supporters via our Facebook contest for his 26 disposals, two goals and six tackles last week and will invite that pressure once again as he leads from the front.
Last weeks debutant, Sam Fox, was also a multiple goal kicker against Footscray and will use his pace up forward to sneak some more through this week.
Ben Long has earnt a callup to the Saints side, dropping Luke Dunstan who is available to play for Sandringham this weekend. Blake Acres, Hunter Clark and Dean Kent have all kept their place in that AFL side so are unlikely to suit up for Sandringham.
Saint Sam Rowe has been named in the field so could mean he gets the start as an addition to the team in Round 2.
Jack Steven, a prolific ballwinner could make his way back into the VFL after taking some time through injury.
Barring a late change for the Saints, Sandringham could have the likes of Luke Dunstan and Ed Phillips named as emergencies.
The final ins and outs will be released prior to our game time of 11:50AM on Sunday.
