No Foxing Around in 2019

The Sandringham Football Club have secured two impressive signings for the 2019 season this week, in new recruit Sam Fox (pictured left) and returning player Theo Thompson (pictured right).
Sam Fox joins the Zebras following the last few seasons at local footy with the Frankston Bombers, following a previous VFL career with the Dolphins. In recent years, Sam was selected in the Vic Country squad, and has had various notable achievements throughout his local and VFL career including the 2016 Nepean League Best & Fairest and playing in the MPFNL Representative Team last year.
Fox spoke with excitement about his commitment to Sandringham.
“I’m really excited to sign with Sandy, obviously a great club with high standards and also being aligned with Saints will help with my development. But I’m also looking forward to hopefully having some success with the players who are looking really good at the moment”, Fox said.
It has been a few years since I was at VFL level, but I feel like I’ve still got some good footy left in me. I feel like the timing is right, especially now that I can still be involved with Frankston Bombers, and continue to train, and hopefully play at VFL level again.”
“I’m hoping I can help the boys achieve some success this year and keep improving my football along the way. I can’t wait to get stuck into it.”
Theo Thompson re-signs with the Zebras after an unfortunate run with injury. He has a notable record, and had an impressive junior career displaying promising leadership qualities. He was a Vic Metro U18 Captain and was the School First 18 Captain at Caulfield Grammar. He has been at the Zebras for some time, but has been held back by injury and only managed half a dozen senior VFL games.
“I am looking forward to building something special with an awesome group of guys, hopefully playing finals. We wouldn't be here unless we wanted to play the best level footy that we are capable of, so it's awesome to share that drive and passion pulling on a great jumper at Sandy”, said Thompson.
“I am hoping to achieve a consistent year of footy getting out on the park week in week out. It has been a frustrating few years with injury so I'm itching to see where I can get my game to.”
“If worse comes to worse and I have a few more injuries, at least I'll get to refine my skills on the barbecue at home games”, he joked.
