New trio join the Saints for 2022
8/02/2022
The Southern Saints have confirmed the signing of Maighan Fogas, Shannon Nolan and Claire Keohane.
We're excited to announce the signing of Maighan Fogas, Shannon Nolan and Claire Keohane.
Fogas is a fierce competitor, inside mid with a boot to match. She has had some time out from the game whilst working hard at her career as a jockey but this year decided she really missed the game and wanted back in.
Fogas has shown great commitment and passion to be back at football but has unfortunately been slowed down through a work place injury when she came off a horse and broke her ankle. Taking her rehab very seriously and working hard, we expect to have her back once the season is underway.
We're excited to see her back on the field.
Nolan joins us from the Gold Coast Suns academy after she decided she wanted to come to the footy capital in Victoria to really push her football as far as possible. She is still eligible for the top age NAB League but is determined to keep learning her craft with the Seniors in the VFLW.
Nolan is a great reader of the ball and will develop well across 2022 playing against senior players. She will provide us some run through the wing and can go inside. Nolan has a huge appetite to learn and will put in the work.
Keohane joins us from Cork in Ireland and has recently moved to Australia with her career in medicine.
A former Irish national Rugby Union and Rugby 7's player, Keohane has an elite background in sport and some friends back home knew she wouldn't be able to sit for too long and said she should have a look at Aussie Rules.
"From the first 2 sessions, I could see some great talent and having been a kicker in rugby, can already kick the ball quite well." Head Coach, Dale Robinson says of Keohane.
Keohane reads the play well and defensively will provide huge pressure. We're excited to see just how good she can be in this game.
This trio of signings completes our playing list for Season 2022 and we can't wait to see them in action!
