The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce that Misilifi Faimalo has signed with the Zebras ahead of season 2024.
Misilifi Faimalo is a talented product of the AFL New Zealand development pathway, a programme that focuses on teaching the fundamentals of Aussie rules to schoolchildren through AFL KiwiKick, and supports high performance training athletes who are looking for a pathway through the regional leagues played around New Zealand.
Faimalo was the 2018 AFL New Zealand Under 18 Player of the Year, and has brought great interest with his defensive edge in the forward line.
Samoan born and New Zealand raised with a rugby background, Faimalo moved to Melbourne in 2019 and joined St Kilda City, a team in the Southern Football Netball League.
He represented AFL New Zealand against the AFL U17 Academy and is no stranger to the VFL, spending two years on Richmond's VFL list in 2022 and playing 12 games in 2023.
“After making the decision to move from Richmond VFL, we knew Misi had been in a quality program. He has great character, great leadership qualities and wants to learn as much as anyone. On-field he will bring speed, power and energy and we look forward to fast-tracking his development with a focus of his strengths."
- Head Coach Jake Batchelor
We look forward to seeing Faimalo in the yellow, black and blue next season.
