Taking on the top-of-the-ladder Williamstown in a gloomy Sunday game at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval, the Southern Saints could not match the dominant performance of the Seagulls, going down by 30 points.
It was a fast start for Williamstown who managed their first goal within 20 seconds. However we responded quickly, being able to amp up our pressure against the dominant side. Our pressure increased around the stoppages in the midfield and with the backline working overtime to successfully prevent the Williamstown forwards from dominating the defensive 50.
Chloe Hunt got our first major early in the second from a set shot, followed shortly after by Tenae Browne with a quick goal from the goal square. We began to look imposing from our repeat inside 50 entries, yet this momentum was short lived with Williamstown responding quickly.
Though the second half was not ideal, we finished the game leading the disposal count 177 to 156.
Tessa Boyd and Georgia Foran were forces down back, acquiring 17 and 14 disposals, respectively.
Olivia Robinson brought the pressure with 10 tackles for the game, whilst Co-Captain Ali Hynes was successful in the ruck with a game high of 29 hit-outs, as well as four clearances.
Southern Saints: 0.1 2.1 2.2 2.3 (15)
Williamstown: 2.0 4.1 6.1 7.3 (45)
