Purcell signs on

The Sandringham Football Club are excited to announce the signing of Liam Purcell for the 2025 season.

Purcell joins Sandringham after three seasons with Collingwood’s VFL side, where he played nine games in 2024. A strong and reliable key defender, he brings experience from both the VFL and VAFA, having previously played for the Parkdale Vultures from 2018 to 2022, before joining St Pauls McKinnon Football Club in 2023.

His standout performances for the Vultures saw Purcell named in the VAFA Premier C Men’s Team of the Year in 2022. He even got a taste of playing against the Zebras in 2024, scoring a goal against Sandringham in our Round 1 loss to the Pies.

Purcell is enthusiastic for the year ahead, stating, "I'm ready to gel with a new group and take it as far as we can together."

We can’t wait to see Liam on the field in the yellow, black and blue very soon!
