Former Zebra off to the Swans
13/03/2019
Former Sandringham listed player, Hayden McLean, has been picked up by the Sydney Swans through the pre-season supplementary period.
The key forward/ruckman played TAC Cup with the Dragons in 2017, and after not being picked up by an AFL club, joined the Zebras for the 2018 season.
The 20-year-old played 13 matches for Sandringham in 2018, making 134 hit outs for the season and kicking 9 goals. At the club’s Best and Fairest night, McLean was named Best First Year Player and it is exciting to see him achieve his goal of making it onto an AFL list.
“On behalf of the entire Sandringham Football Club, we couldn’t be happier for Hayden”, Sandringham CEO David Cannizzo said.
“We saw fantastic growth and improvement in him last season and we were pragmatic in our discussions with him about where he was best to play to continue his football and development in 2019.”
“It is now very satisfying to see those decisions lead to him earning himself a spot on Sydney’s list.”
Congratulations Hayden!
