Doggie Day
25/07/2018
This Saturday, Sandringham will be hosting the VFL’s first ever ‘Doggie Day’ as a part of their final home game for the season. The match between the Zebras and the Box Hill Hawks, which will be broadcasted on Channel 7, begins at 2.10pm.
Sandringham is inviting their fans, and the wider community to bring their dogs to Trevor Barker Beach Oval for a fun day at the footy. There will be prizes to be won, provided by match day partners Eukanaba, Jog the Dog and Studio Pets.
Throughout the day Sandringham FC representatives will be handing out free dog food sample giveaways from Eukanuba and Zebra dog bandanas.
All proceeds from the day will go towards Pets of the Homeless. A charity that provides support to pet owners at risk of, or who are currently experiencing, homelessness by ensuring that their companion pets are well looked after.
Yvonne Hong founded the organisation in 2015 after spending time with people and their furry companions who had found themselves homeless, and wondering why nobody was doing anything to help.
The importance of pets is something many can understand when it comes to times of struggle and hardship. That is why this foundation is so important, because rather than taking away the animals that provide much needed comfort to those who are struggling, they provide food, veterinary care and other support for these pet owners.
