Club President, Nick Johnstone, on 94.1FM
Sandringham Football Club President, Nick Johnstone, joined 94.1FM VFL Rewind to discuss where the Club is at in these unprecedented times.
"We've got to be adaptable and we've got to be positive... If we can get a season up and running it's probably not going to have big crowds and everything we've always had, but we're going to take nothing for granted anymore as a club."
"[We're] working towards our players getting to play and supporters getting to support... We've been blown away by our Sponsors; everyone's stuck with us"
"Financially, commercially, it's been very tough; we've had no income. We've just started up Sandy By The Bay, serving the best steaks in Melbourne on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, which is now a great source of income for the Club."
"The good that's come out of this far outweighs the bad... We've got a new electronic scoreboard that just went up a couple of months ago, so despite all this there's some really positive, great things happening at the football club."
"Ben McGlynn, even though he's not our Coach, he's certainly involved because he feels such a strong bond with the players he's had over the preseason."
"Josh Vella, our Football Operations and Recruitment Manager, is doing a great job, along with David Cannizzo and Adrian Connolly (our Coach), in getting our list."
"We're now a lot closer to a decision. We hope that a decision will be made by the AFL very soon and then we'll certainly be able to tell you about our signings. At this stage we are talking to a lot of people, as well as a lot of Northern Blues players who haven't got a club to play with this year."
"Tristan Salter from AFL Victoria has done a tremendous job in getting a season up and running."
