Across the Local Leagues - Part 2

There were plenty who pulled on the boots for their community clubs on our fourth bye last weekend. Here’s how they performed for their respective clubs.

No less than 16 played across nine different clubs and three different divisions in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).

In William Buck Premier, Nick Hodgson played his first game in just under two months for Old Scotch. He kicked a goal in the last as the Cardinals won by 47 points over St Bernards at Camberwell Sports Ground.

Darby Hipwell and Oscar Lewis played for Old Brighton against Old Trinity. Hipwell kicked two goals to help guide his side to a 14-point victory at the Daley Oval in Bulleen.

Assistant Coach Sam Dunell and Ollie Lowe faced off against each other at Glen Huntly Oval. Lowe kicked a goal and was named in the best for Caulfield Grammarians, however it was Dunell’s Old Melburnians that got up by 15 points, also contributing a goal.

Scott Beilby played for Collegians in their crucial match against Old Xaverians. He kicked a goals as his side managed to hold on by three points at Harry Trott Oval.

Leadership group members Goy Lok & Anthony Seaton played their second game of the season for St Kevins Old Boys alongside Ben Mansfield. Lok was named best on whilst Seaton was second best on for their side as they played a key role in keeping University Blues to just one goal on their way to a 69-point victory.

In Premier B, Liam Hayes, Riley Virtue & Matthew Harms ran out for Beaumaris in their home match against Williamstown CYMS. Harms kicked a goal whilst Virtue was named in the best as the Sharks cruised to a 70 point victory.

Will Gown, Max Sinclair & Jack McHale played for Old Haileybury in their match against Old Carey. McHale was one of three players to kick six goals and was also named in the best as their side won by a thumping 131 points.

In Premier C, Joe Nowell came back into the Ormond lineup in their big clash with Old Mentonians. He kicked three and was also named in the best as his side won by 13 points at home.

Three played in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League over the weekend. 

Tyson Milne played alongside Assistant Coach, Trent Dennis-Lane, for Bonbeach in their matchup with top-of-the-table Frankston YCW. Milne got on the scoresheet again.

Fin Bayne also played for Mt Eliza as they travelled up to face Edithvale-Aspendale. He kicked a goal and was named in the best as the Redlegs pushed up into second place following a big 51 point victory.

In the Eastern Football Netball League, Vincent Zagari played his 13th game of the season for Balwyn. He had 14 disposals and four inside 50’s as the Tigers picked up a big win over top-of-the-table Noble Park at home.
