The Southern Saints are excited to reveal our VFLW Southern Saints coaching panel for season 2024.
Michelle ‘Alpha’ Densley will continue as VFLW Head Coach for the 2024 season. With the entire coaching panel looking fresh going into the new year, Alpha excited for the year ahead.
“I’m excited to not only have three new assistant coaches but looking forward to extending our coaching panel with three assistant coaches, three player/skills development coaches, three development coaches and two Coates Talent Pathway Co-ordinators/coaches.”
Assistant Coaches
Nathan Evans is a new face added to the coaching panel. While still relatively new to the coaching world, he has a ‘vast knowledge of football and all the intricacies of the game’.
“It is refreshing to have someone onboard that 1. wants to better his coaching development but 2. has a genuine want to help the girls get better,” says Alpha.
Andy Farrall has taken on a VFLW assistant coach role in 2024, after spending two seasons as a development coach with the Southern Saints. Andy first joined the Sandringham Football Club in 2021, working with our VFL side, after previously working with the Box Hill Hawks as an assistant coach. In 2023, Andy’s efforts were recognised when he was awarded the ‘Eric Mackenzie Memorial Trophy’ for the Best Club Person.
Shane Hamill reprises his role as assistant coach going into the 2024 season.
Development Coaches
A new look to the development department as the Southern Saints welcome Jesse Hamill, who will be taking over as a development coach, alongside former Southern Sainters turned St Kilda AFLW players Hannah Stuart and Deanna Jolliffe, who will bring their playing experience to the team.
Marcus Kleinert and Donza have taken on new roles in 2024, spearheading player/skills development.
Warren Voss and Leah Olsen will also continue at the Southern Saints as development coaches and Coates Talent Pathway Co-ordinators.
Strength and Conditioning / Analytics
Emile Tait joins us as Head of Strength and Conditioning and will be supported by Andrew Denoon.
“I’m very excited to be fortunate enough to add Emile and Andy to our Strength & Conditioning program,” said Alpha.
CJ Bezzant will continue as Head of Football Analytics across both our VFL and VFLW programs.
